Claire Long - Associate
Claire is an associate solicitor in the Healthcare team at Hayes solicitors. Claire is committed to providing healthcare professionals with advice to support them through the litigation process, and dealing with claims expeditiously.
Prior to joining Hayes, Claire worked in London for a highly ranked Chambers and Legal 500 UK firm, acting in clinical negligence claims, including catastrophic high value injury matters. Claire has experience of working on significant and high profile cases. She has also practised as a solicitor in Scotland, and has experience of appearing in the Scottish criminal and family courts.

Experience
- Healthcare litigation - Claire has experience gained from representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants in healthcare proceedings. She has experience of running her own caseload and assisting on a wide range of matters, including birth and spinal injury claims, claims involving an alleged failure or delay in diagnosis, fatal claims, and inquests.
- Catastrophic Injury - Claire has experience of working on catastrophic injury claims, including high value cerebral palsy claims.
- Psychiatric Injury/Nervous Shock - Claire has experience of complex “nervous shock” claims.
- International Claims: Claire has worked on several claims with an international element, necessitating unusual and complex work, e.g. service of proceedings outwith the jurisdiction in a case which subsequently reached the Supreme Court in the UK.
- Mediation & Negotiation - Claire has experience of settlement negotiations, often in cases involving high value settlements which are subject to strict confidentiality provisions.
- Inquests - Claire has represented families at Inquest, and was a key point of contact for the family at an extremely high profile inquest. At Hayes Solicitors, Claire supports the partners representing hospitals at Inquests.
- Product Liability - Claire gained experience of product liability litigation when she worked as a legal researcher on a class action against a drug company at a law firm in Melbourne, Australia.

- Claire has presented to medical professionals through her relationship with the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM) in the UK.
