David is an associate solicitor in the Healthcare team at Hayes solicitors. He advises clinical practitioners, hospitals and indemnity bodies on the defence of clinical negligence claims.
David has experience of defending claims from the earliest stages up to and including trial.
Dual qualified in Ireland and in England and Wales, David has worked for top Chambers and Legal 500 ranked firms in defendant clinical negligence in England, advising public and private healthcare providers.
Clinical negligence – acting in defence work at all levels and stages of litigation with specific experience in cases involving vaccination, fatal injury, spinal injury, and vascular/orthopaedic issues.
Alternative dispute resolution – representing clients at successful mediations and settlement meetings (with and without the assistance of Counsel).
Risk management – advising public healthcare bodies on lessons to be learned from claims and associated risk management.
Investigations and Inquiries – working on public law and associated investigations, including a judicial review of healthcare service reconfiguration and assisting a healthcare client in a high-profile public inquiry.
Regulatory and Professional Discipline – conducting fitness to practise investigations into healthcare professionals including nurses, midwives and dentists.
