The European Union (Preventive Restructuring) Regulations 2022 (the “Regulations”) were signed into law on Friday, 29 July 2022 by the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

On 6 July 2022 the Companies (Corporate Enforcement Authority) Act 2021 (“the Act”) came into effect, with the establishment of a new Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA). This step has been noted by many as a watershed moment in confronting economic and white-collar crime in Ireland.

The Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation has issued the order necessary for the Companies (Miscellaneous Provisions) (COVID-19) Act 2020 (the “Act”) to become effective from 21 August 2020. 

Most Irish companies are required to maintain an internal register of its beneficial owners. There is also now an important new obligation to file information about the beneficial owners to a new Central Register, maintained by the CRO.
