World Intellectual Property Day 2022 takes place today, 26 April. This year’s theme focuses on “IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future”.
WIPO’s aim is to explore how innovative, energetic and creative minds are driving positive change. World Intellectual Property Day 2022 raises awareness about the role of intellectual property in the economy and society.
In a statement provided on its website, the World Intellectual Property Office (“WIPO”) is coordinating a global campaign to highlight how young inventors, creators and entrepreneurs can use IP rights to achieve their goals, generate income, create jobs, tackle local and global challenges and support community and national development. In celebrating World Intellectual Property 2022, the WIPO recognises the huge potential of young people to find new and better solutions that support the transition to a sustainable future. The WIPO are inviting young people to post images and video content of their innovations for a better future.
The international IP community is marking World IP Day through a series of virtual activities and an active social media campaign. Given the on-going COVID-related constraints, World Intellectual Property Day 2022 will be a hybrid campaign.
