We recently considered the anticipated publication of The Health (Amendment) (Home Support Providers) Bill 2025. The Bill has now been published and is available here.
The proposed legislation seeks to establish a regulatory framework for providers of home support services, which offer services to older persons and persons with disabilities. As expected, the Bill proposes that the regime will operate in a similar manner to the system of regulation governing nursing home service providers.
As of 16 December 2025, the Bill is before Dáil Éireann, First Stage. The general principles of the Bill will shortly be considered by the Dáil, which will take us one step closer to the home support service regime being brought into effect.
We welcome the publication of The Health (Amendment) (Home Support Providers) Bill 2025 and will continue to monitor progress of the Bill as it passes through the various stages of government.
