As and from 3 February 2014:-
- The jurisdiction of the District Court in civil proceedings will increase from €6,384.00 to €15,000.00.
- The jurisdiction of the Circuit Court in civil proceedings (other than personal injuries claims) will increase from €38,093.00 to €75,000.00.
- The jurisdiction of the Circuit Court for personal injuries actions as defined in Section 2 of the Civil Liability & Courts Act 2004 will be limited to €60,000.00.
The new jurisdiction limits will not affect proceedings instituted in any Court prior to 3 February 2014.
New Court Rules including Rules for scale costs are expected to be signed into law shortly to coincide with the introduction of the new jurisdictional limits.
