In her non-claims work, Martha advises on healthcare related issues and represents doctors and dentists in complaints to the Medical Council and Dental Council
Lead partner on high value complex catastrophic injury cases related to birth injuries and brain/spinal injuries, including one of the highest ever medical negligence settlements and has experience handling case managed/expedited cases. These cases involve comprehensive investigation in the complex issues of liability, causation and quantum and careful management of the practical procedures involved in running complicated and sensitive litigation.
Defending High Court cases arising from a wide variety of medical and dental scenarios such as missed cancer diagnosis, orthopaedic injuries, nerve injuries, gynecological injuries, eye surgery and claims relating to vascular injuries and missed vascular/arterial conditions. Advises clients, in healthcare and other sectors on privacy, confidentiality, data protection and freedom of information.
Martha lectures to students on the Professional Practice Course 2 at the Law Society of Ireland and students of the Law Society’s Diplomas in Healthcare Law. She provides CPD to healthcare clients on healthcare topics including the recovery of benefits and assistance scheme and quantum trends as well as providing in-house training for the Hayes healthcare team with a particular focus on client care.
