David is an Associate in the Healthcare Law team at Hayes Solicitors. David originally qualified in England & Wales and is dual qualified. He primarily advises clinical practitioners, hospitals and indemnity bodies on the defence of clinical negligence claims.

Prior to joining Hayes solicitors, David worked for top Chambers and Legal 500 ranked firms in Defendant clinical negligence in England advising both public and private healthcare providers. David has experience of defending claims from the earliest stages up to and including trial.

Experience

  • Clinical negligence defence work at all levels and stages of litigation with a particular interest in cases relating to vaccination, fatal injury, spinal injury, and vascular/orthopaedic cases.
  • Mediation and other alternative dispute resolution. Representing clients at successful mediations and settlement meetings (both with and without the assistance of Counsel).
  • Advising public healthcare bodies in respect of lessons to be learned from claims and associated risk management.
  • Public law and associated investigations – including working on a judicial review into healthcare service reconfiguration and assisting a healthcare client in respect of a high-profile public inquiry.
  • Regulatory and Professional Discipline – conducting fitness to practise investigations into healthcare professionals including nurses, midwives and dentists.
