Catherine Jane O'Rourke - Associate

Catherine advises both employers and employees, in relation to contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including contracts of employment, workplace policies, workplace investigations, statutory compliance, redundancies and dismissals.

Catherine also has a background in transactional banking, including acquisition finance, property investment finance and development/construction finance. She has significant experience in both domestic and cross-border SME secured lending with a particular focus on multi-jurisdictional transactions. 

Catherine joined the firm as a trainee and qualified as a solicitor in 2016.

Experience

  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures, internal investigations, suspensions, disciplinary hearings and appeals.
  • Statutory compliance including maternity, paternity and parental rights, working time, payment of wages, health and safety, notice periods, equality, fixed-term, part-time and agency workers, data protection and protected disclosures.
  • Review and drafting of workplace policies and procedures including employee handbooks, disciplinary procedures, bullying and harassment policies, data protection and privacy notices and whistleblowing policies.
  • Termination of employment and redundancy scenarios (including collective redundancies).
  • Review and drafting of Contracts of Employment.
  • Employment disputes and litigation.

  • Business Economics and Social Studies (B.E.S.S.), Trinity College Dublin, 2010
  • Postgraduate Diploma in law, Dublin Institute of Technology, 2011
  • Professional qualification as a solicitor, Law Society of Ireland, 2016
