The Employment (Collective Redundancies and Miscellaneous Provisions) and Companies (Amendment) Act 2024 (the “2024 Act”) was commenced by the Oireachtas in July 2024.

On 14 December 2023, the Court of Justice of the European Union (“CJEU”) issued judgment in VB v. Natsionalna agentsia za prihodite (C-340/21) and held that that the fear of misuse of one’s data after a data breach can constitute non-material damage.

Insolvency rates remained low during the COVID-19 pandemic and governmental financial aids provided during the pandemic have been phased out and/or withdrawn. However, we are beginning to see the SCARP option being explored more frequently.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment has announced that the Companies (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Covid-19) Act 2020 (the “Act”)[1] has been extended to 31 December 2022 following recent approval by the Government.
