In October of 2021, the Circuit Court confirmed the Data Protection Commission’s decision to fine Twitter €450,000. The DPC found that Twitter had failed to comply with various obligations regarding the notification of data breaches, including the requirement to notify the DPC within 72 hours.

The expectation of online anonymity has become so common in our increasingly digital society that individuals often feel immune to the legal consequences of posting harmful or offensive material.

In June 2021, the Victorian Supreme Court of Appeal upheld an important decision of the Supreme Court of Victoria concerning the law of defamation.
