Dental Protection (DPL) recently hosted a series of roadshows for dentists across Ireland aimed at educating its members about key pitfalls in practice and how best to avoid them. The roadshows’ theme Pulp fiction: where’s the evidence? focused on obtaining and properly recording a patient’s informed consent to treatment - a fertile area for claims. Sue Boynton and Stephen Henderson, both Senior Dento Legal Advisers with DPL, gave informative presentations and took Q&A sessions afterwards.

The roadshows, which took place in Cork, Limerick, Kilkenny and Dublin in the week of 4th November, proved to be very popular, reaching a total of more than 500 people.

Hayes was very pleased to be one of the sponsors of the Horizons events which were also attended by various members of the Healthcare team. We also prepared Dental Brief, a newsletter giving tips on areas we come across frequently in practice including informed consent, display of fees, access to records, expert immunity and the Dental Complaints Resolution Service. A copy of Dental Brief is available here 'Hayes Dental Brief 2013'
