Experience

  • Medical negligence defence – Jenny has assisted in defending a wide range of medical negligence claims including delay in diagnosis, gynaecological injury, surgical mistake, vascular injuries and cardiac injury.
  • Plaintiff and defence litigation – She supports Hayes partners in complex medical negligence cases involving surgical mistake, delay in diagnosis and fatal injuries claims. She has also worked on high profile defamation claims and also represented a national insurance company in relation to litigation claims.
  • Catastrophic injury – Jenny has worked on defending catastrophic injury cases including cerebral palsy. Frequently, these claims require investigations into complex issues of liability and causation. This results in undertaking an in-depth analysis of quantum including examination of life expectancy, care costs, occupational and physiotherapy costs as well as analysis of actuarial reports relating to the capitalised values of such claims.
  • Jenny previously worked for two years as a defence litigation solicitor commanding a large caseload instructed by a private insurance company. As part of this role she counselled on liability and quantum in personal injury, fatal injury and material damage actions. These cases routinely involved investigating claims and concluding matters either by way of negotiating settlements or trial. Jenny solely negotiated numerous advantageous settlements for her client, successfully defeating entire claims or aspects thereof through forensic investigation of the claim.
  • She has advised companies on the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Acts in the context of ensuring compliance with the regulations, thereby limiting their exposure to liability in potential claims.
