Caroline Crowley - Partner

Caroline practises in the Healthcare team at Hayes solicitors. She has over 25 years’ experience in civil litigation with particular emphasis on professional negligence including medical, dental and veterinary negligence. She has extensive experience in cerebral palsy and high value catastrophic injury claims.

Caroline advises medical, dental and veterinary practitioners on a daily basis on complaints regarding alleged professional misconduct or poor professional performance. She has vast experience in advising professionals in relation to disciplinary hearings before the Medical, Dental and Veterinary Councils and in disciplinary inquiries, statutory inquiries and non-statutory inquiries. She has a particular interest in ethical dilemmas and regulatory issues arising in healthcare and other regulated professions.

Experience

  • Assisting a number of clients in successfully lobbying the Minister for Health and the Minister for Justice in relation to proposed legislative enactments
  • Advising on disciplinary hearings before the Medical, Dental and Veterinary Councils and ethical issues
  • Caroline has extensive experience in cerebral palsy and high value catastrophic injury claims
  • Accredited as a mediator by CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) - Caroline was among the earliest group of solicitors to become an Accredited Mediator in Ireland in 2004. She is committed to the development of mediation of disputes in the healthcare environment
  • Caroline has assisted numerous healthcare professionals with physical or mental illnesses which impaired their ability to work.
  • Caroline has attended numerous hearings before the Fitness to Practise Committees of other professions and meetings of the Medical Council and is well versed on issues arising at these hearings which would require guidance to ensure fair procedures are followed.

  • BA Hons, University College Dublin
  • Diploma in Legal Studies, College of Commerce, Rathmines (DIT)
  • Professional qualification as a solicitor, Law Society of Ireland, 1988
  • Accredited Mediator, Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution(CEDR).

  • Caroline is a trustee of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund and a member of the board of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.
