Alan O'Sullivan - Partner

Alan specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with a particular focus on financial services and banking disputes, and restructuring & insolvency. 

Prior to joining the firm, Alan was Head of Litigation of the IBRC Group.  In addition to his in-house experience, Alan has previously worked in large commercial law firms in Dublin and London.

Alan has advised extensively in relation to large scale enforcement and debt recovery by financial institutions (including international asset tracing and recovery), financial product mis-selling claims, bondholder litigation, and insolvency processes including receivership, examinership, liquidation and bankruptcy.

Alan acts for insolvency practitioners, accountancy firms, banks, asset management companies and private equity investors particularly in relation to the distressed debt market.

Alan also advises in relation to general commercial litigation particularly shareholder disputes, construction law, professional negligence claims and insurance disputes.  Outside of formal Court based litigation, Alan regularly advises in relation to alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation, expert determination and arbitration, including international arbitration.

Qualifications/Education

  • Bachelor of Civil Law Degree (BCL), University College Dublin
  • Master of Laws in Commercial Law (LLM), University College Dublin
  • Professional qualification as a solicitor, Law Society of Ireland, 2002
  • Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
